  157. CleanUp Virus Remover (CLEANUP) kills and removes computer viruses, and in
  158. most instances it repairs infected files, re-constructs damaged programs and
  159. returns the system to normal operation. Clean-Up works for all viruses
  160. identified by the current version of McAfee Associates' Scan.

  162. File Shield (FSHIELD) is intended for software distributors; it shields
  163. executable files so that virus infections are instantly detected and
  164. automatically removed by the shield. This protects the software manufacturer
  165. against possible legal or liability questions when the software is introduced
  166. into an already infected site. The Shield adds about 2k to an executable file.

  168. NetScan is the network version of ViruScan. It scans network virtual drives
  169. and identifies any pre-existing PC virus infection in the file servers. It
  170. will indicate the specific files or system areas that are infected and will
  171. identify the virus strain which has caused the infection. Removal can then be
  172. done manually or, if the infection is widespread, automatic removal utilities
  173. are available which can disinfect each virus strain.

  177. VCopy is a replacement program for the DOS copy command that checks for
  178. viruses as it copies. It prevents infected programs from entering your system
  179. and it identifies infected diskettes during the copy process. VCOPY copy will
  180. detect all of the viruses detected by the current version of VIRUSCAN. It will
  181. also scan inside programs that have been compressed with LZEXE.

  183. ViruScan (VIRUSCN) scans diskettes or entire systems and identifies any
  184. pre-existing PC virus infection. It will indicate the specific files or system
  185. areas that are infected and will identify the virus strain which has caused
  186. the infection. It can identify hundreds of major virus strains and numerous
  187. sub-varieties for each strain. Another major feature allows SCAN to check
  188. inside of programs compressed with LZEXE. An option to transparently attach a
  189. CRC validation code to all of your executable files, your boot sector and your
  190. partition table helps protect your system in case a virus unknown to SCAN is
  191. encountered. You can save to disk a list of any files found infected. It
  192. includes an option that allows you to scan for new viruses by adding your own
  193. set of search strings loaded from an external virus data file.

  195. VShield (fomerly SCANRES) is the memory resident version of ViruScan. This 17k
  196. TSR checks for viruses in each program as it is being loaded into memory to
  197. run, a process which adds about eight seconds to the loading and running of
  198. the average program (or so says the documentation. We could not get it to take
  199. any measurable amount of time on a 386.) If it detects a virus in a program
  200. you are trying to run, it will not let it run. The program also includes the
  201. ability to prevent boot sector infections as well as file infections. This
  202. will load HIGH under DOS 5.0.

  204. Virus Central (Alejandro L. Abello; $25) is a shell program that simplifies
  205. the use of ViruScan and CleanUp by providing a menu-oriented environment that
  206. does away with the need to memorize command line parameters. It is ideally
  207. suited for locations such as college computer labs. It has a built-in screen
  208. saver and Mouse support.

  216. becomes infected. It does not scan other files, it simply sets itself up to be
